JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking a skilled Desktop Support Technician to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing technical support and troubleshooting services for computer systems, software applications, and network connectivity. This role requires a strong understanding of various operating systems, hardware components, and networking principles to ensure optimal performance of IT infrastructure. The Desktop Support Technician will also assist users with issues related to VPN, firewalls, and other IT-related concerns while delivering exceptional customer service.

SKILLS

  • Proficient in technical support, desktop support, and IT infrastructure management.
  • Strong knowledge of computer management practices including hardware troubleshooting and software analysis skills.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Windows Server environments and Active Directory administration.
  • Experience with computer networking concepts such as TCP, DNS, VPNs, firewalls, and LAN configurations.
  • Ability to work with mobile devices and various operating systems effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills for clear interaction with users at all levels.
  • Knowledge of help desk operations using platforms like ServiceNow or BMC Remedy is preferred.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support for desktop hardware and software issues across various operating systems including Windows, macOS, and Linux.
  • Troubleshoot software applications and perform installations or upgrades as necessary.

  • Assist with network administration tasks including LAN setup, TCP/IP configuration, DNS management, and firewall settings.
  • Utilize tools such as SCCM for software deployment and BMC Remedy or ServiceNow for ticket management.
  • Collaborate with the IT team to maintain IT infrastructure and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Document all support activities in help desk systems like Jira to track progress and solutions.
  • Provide training and guidance to end-users on effective use of Microsoft Office applications and other software tools.
  • Maintain communication with users to ensure timely resolution of issues while delivering excellent customer service.
