Job Overview: The Desktop Technician III provides Tier II desktop support to our clients users in accordance with DOI/IA Office of Information Technology standards. This role supports end users across hardware, software, peripherals, and approved applications in both urban and rural environments and works under the direction of the Field Support Manager (FSM). Key Responsibilities Resolve assigned incidents, service requests, and changes through the DOI/IA Service Management System Provide Tier II support for desktops, laptops, tablets, mobile devices, printers, scanners, and peripherals Image, deploy, configure, and replace end-user computing equipment Install and support approved software, including Microsoft Windows, Office, and IA-approved applications Assist users with domain login issues, network drives, printers, and collaboration tools Support specialized applications such as GIS, AutoCAD, or equivalent business systems Maintain accurate hardware and software inventory records Ensure server rooms and cable plants remain neat, organized, and physically secure Assist Tier III resources with escalated troubleshooting when required Participate in OIT User Support calls, training, and knowledge sharing Follow all DOI/IA security, privacy, and operational policies Required Qualifications Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience Minimum 3 years of desktop / end-user IT support experience Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Windows OS and Office Suite Experience supporting hardware, printers, LAN environments, and peripherals Ability to lift and install equipment weighing up to 75 lbs Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Willingness to travel to other DOI/IA locations when directed by FSM Preferred Qualifications Experience in a federal IT environment Familiarity with ITIL v3 practices Experience with remote support tools (e.g., DameWare, Remote Desktop) Does this opportunity sound like a fit for you?
