Core Values: * Helpful * Humble * Aware * Driven Position Overview: The Detail Carpenter is responsible for performing all duties associated with required carpentry work to successfully complete projects within specifications and in a quality manner to meet or exceed customer expectations. Essential Functions: * Details and prepares home for settlement * Performs minor trim work, drywall repairs, and painting as needed * Verifies Trade Partners remain on schedule * Ensures Trade Partners are in compliance with Scope of Work * Ensures proper materials are installed * Completes Homeowner Orientation list by Zero-Defect Meeting * Assists Superintendent with various duties as needed * Maintains an awareness of safety issues and communicates issues to the Superintendent * Assists Warranty Department as needed * Ensures communities are kept clean at all times * Participates in Homeowner Emergency On-Call rotation * Other duties as assigned Experience/Education/Competencies:  * High School Diploma/GED required and must be at least 21 years old to meet insurance requirements for the use of a company-provided vehicle. * 2 or more years of general construction experience preferred * Proficiency in general carpentry required * Ability to perform in a busy, changing, multi-tasking work environment required * Ability to prioritize tasks and to manage time efficiently required * Excellent customer service skills required * Current, valid driver’s license required Working Conditions: * Primarily outdoor setting. Requires the ability to work from 7AM – 4PM Monday – Friday, with a mandatory minimum thirty-minute lunch break. * Some overtime or weekend work may be required to cater to workload. * Requires the ability to work at and/or travel to various sites/communities on a daily basis and to transport tools, molding, boxes, propane heaters, step ladders, etc. as required. * It is the expectation that all Detail Carpenters provide their own hand tools and small power tools. Any tools damaged on Berks Homes’ job sites may be replaced by Berks Homes upon management’s approval. Other provisions for tool assignment may be made circumstantially. Physical Requirments: * Requires the ability to lift to 75 lbs., bend, squat, kneel, stand, walk, reach, pull, push, twist, climb and to sit for extended periods of time and in different climates * Frequently, you must be able to read and comprehend, write effectively and professionally, perform minor calculations, orally communicate with all levels within the organization, reason and analyze data. * The main equipment/machinery used is the telephone, saw, drills, hand tools and any other carpentry related equipment. * Requires the ability to work at and/or travel to various sites/communities on a daily basis and to transport tools, molding, boxes, propane heaters, step ladders, etc. as required.

Responsibilities

The Detail Carpenter is responsible for executing all required carpentry work to ensure projects meet specifications and exceed customer expectations, including detailing homes for settlement and performing minor repairs. Essential duties involve verifying Trade Partner compliance, ensuring correct material installation, completing homeowner orientations, and assisting the Superintendent as needed.
