Description
About us At Dagster Labs, our mission is simple but ambitious: to empower every organization to build a productive, scalable data platform. We’re the brains behind Dagster, the open-source tool developers love, Dagster+, our managed cloud, and Compass—our first AI product, which brings exploratory data analysis into Slack with governed context. From scrappy startups to global enterprises, thousands of teams trust us to power the data behind their analytics, machine learning, and AI breakthroughs. We believe the AI era runs on reliable, high-quality data. That’s why we make data platforms easier to test, easier to understand, and actually enjoyable to use. Dagster is quickly becoming the backbone of how the world builds intelligent systems. We’re a small, well-funded team with big energy and a track record of shipping software people rave about. We aim high and work as a team, holding ourselves to the highest standards and trusting each other to deliver. We care about how we work together: no egos, no drama, just a lot of curiosity and a drive to make something meaningful. If you want to help shape the future of data and AI and have fun doing it, come build with us. About the role Dagster is an orchestration platform for the development, production, and observation of data assets. Our goal is to make Dagster+ the de facto hosted solution for structuring these systems. You will be joining the Developer Success team within the engineering organization. This is a deeply technical role that requires gaining and continuously expanding expertise in Python, Dagster, and data engineering. You will support Dagster+ customers, collaborate with our engineering teams, and create scalable, long-term solutions through documentation, tooling, process improvements, and open source contributions. Over time, this role can evolve towards a software engineering role, including contributing to Dagster’s open-source codebase and building internal tools that improve product and customer experience. This is a full-time position offering competitive salary, equity, and benefits. We are a distributed team with offices in San Francisco, New York, and Minneapolis. We’re open to hiring fully remote candidates who are currently authorized to work within the United States. We offer flexible remote work options so you can choose the environment that makes you most productive—whether that’s your home or a coworking space. Dagster Labs fosters a collaborative, remote-first culture, ensuring you have all the tools and support needed to thrive, no matter where you are. Responsibilities Technical Support Provide technical support to Dagster+ customers and open-source users. Provide technical guidance on data orchestration, integration, and how to write pipelines in Dagster (Python). Diagnose and resolve issues related to Dagster installations, integrations, and deployments. Troubleshoot issues with cloud services (AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerized environments (Kubernetes, Docker) to help customers implement solutions effectively. Our support team operates between 6:00 AM and 5:00 PM PT to serve customers across multiple time zones. Flexibility within this window is essential to ensure timely and effective support. Documentation, Tooling, and Process Improve documentation for clarity and usability. Improve support tooling and develop debugging resources to expedite issue resolution. Provide feedback to engineering and product teams to drive product improvements. Must-have Qualifications 2+ years of relevant experience in technical support, software engineering, or a similar role. Familiarity with Python Hands-on experience with distributed systems, containerized environments (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker), cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), and CI/CD workflows. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with empathy for clients and ability to advocate for their needs while representing the company effectively. Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical challenges independently. Proactive mindset for engaging with customer issues and driving improvement. Nice-to-have Qualifications Experience with data orchestration tools (e.g., Dagster, Airflow, Prefect). Knowledge of data engineering. Experience at high-growth SaaS startups. You belong here We are committed to building an inclusive team and an open-source community where no one feels out of place. We know that teams with diverse backgrounds state their assumptions more explicitly, think more rigorously, and build better software. Plus it's more fun and interesting to work with a wide variety of perspectives. You should apply to work at Dagster Labs if you want to work in, and help to build and strengthen, a high-performing software development environment where people of all backgrounds are welcome. Our Stack Dagster is built in Python and TypeScript to work on macOS, Posix, and Windows. We use GraphQL, Apollo, and React to develop beautiful frontend tooling. We integrate with a wide range of databases, data warehouses, orchestration engines, compute substrates, and cloud services. The estimated annual cash salary for this role is $90,000 to $150,000.
