  • Above average communicator – both written and orally. This position also demands knowledge of and sensitivity to patients and their families, donors, recognition programs, and superior interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to provide appropriate stewardship to various constituencies including but not limited to donors, volunteers and community members.
  • Able to handle multiple projects in the midst of competing deadlines with extreme attention to detail.
  • Provides friendly service to any individual contacting the Foundation including, but not limited to donors, volunteers, board directors, patients and Health Sciences Centre staff.
  • Able to multi-task, have superior time management skills, above average listening skills and patience.
  • Ability to work comfortably in Microsoft Office, complete basic accounting tasks and electronic mail skills are imperative. The ability to operate office equipment (i.e. copiers, computers, printers) is also required. The ability to use Raiser’s Edge is an asset.
  • Requires flexibility with hours and location of work.

QUALIFICATIONS

The Development Assistant-Events will have completed post-secondary education, preferably in one of the following areas:

  • Fundraising
  • Special Event Planning/Execution
  • Marketing
  • Business Administration
  • Public Relations
  • Office Administration

And/or have a minimum one to two (1-2) years’ experience in fundraising or event administration.

Responsibilities

PURPOSE OF POSITION

The Development Assistant-Events will work with the Manager, Events to provide support to the Events Department in the administration and execution of Signature Events and Community Events in support of the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Development Assistant- Events is responsible for the development of the community events profile as well as providing support in the administration and execution of Events in support of the Foundation. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting in event administration, coordinating events, booking and supervising volunteers, data entry, in-kind sponsorships requests and prize pick-up.
  • Assist in making sponsorship calls and visits.
  • Maintain records using prescribed software of any pertinent constituent (i.e. donor, volunteer, sponsor) information that may be helpful to programs of the Foundation.
  • Participate in coordinating, facilitating and the execution of Signature Events and Community Events that support the Foundation.
  • Supporting community events in administrative ways and maintaining proper recognition standards.
  • Provide administration support to the Manager, Events
  • Provide friendly service to any inquiries via phone, email or in person.
  • Direct inquiries to the most appropriate Foundation staff if not able to answer question directly.
