Description

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a developmental band 6 within the ICU team. We are looking to appoint enthusiastic and motivated ICU nurses who wish to develop their leadership skills post ICU courses. You will be supported by our senior nurses and education team to develop your with knowledge, skills and attitude to become a competent and confident band 6 ICU nurse. We will provide:

  • Supernumerary orientation, individualised to your professional needs.
  • In house leadership programme.

You will be required to work according to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and relevant professional guidelines as a named nurse for a defined group of patients and take responsibility for:
The assessment of care and health education needs;
The development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care including discharge planning for each patient.
To be designated to manage the ward/department and/or act as a deputy to the person holding continuing responsibility.
To promote and participate in the implementation of the RUH Nursing strategy:
Reviewing nursing practice and implementing appropriate changes based on research/best practice.
Developing and implementing audit, quality and risk management initiatives.
Participate in clinical supervision appropriately, to teach and act as a facilitator/mentor/preceptor to nursing or non-nursing staff.
The successful candidate will be expected to work clinically within the multidisciplinary team, maintain high standards of practice while supporting staff on a shift by shift basic and provide clinical leadership and decision making.
The post holder will be required to be an enthusiastic and integral member of our established and committed team, and provide and supervise the delivery of excellent patient care. The candidate will provide effective clinical leadership and management of the team in the Intensive Care Unit and demonstrate the ability to manage their time by prioritising and organising their working. They must demonstrate current personal development; have a good understanding and involvement in improving patient safety, risk reduction and development of others and general support for peers, junior and senior colleagues.
