As a Development Chef Assistant, you will play a key supporting role in bringing culinary innovation to life. Working closely with the Development Chef and Trading teams, you will help create and refine food concepts that meet evolving customer needs and reflect market trends in Ireland and beyond. You will assist in the development of own-brand and exclusive products, contribute to recipe testing and demonstrations, and support training initiatives that elevate our food credentials.
This role is ideal for someone passionate about food, eager to learn, and ready to contribute to a dynamic kitchen environment focused on innovation and excellence.
Key Responsibilities

Kitchen & Demonstration Support

  • Assist in managing the Kitchen Theatre and ensuring it is clean, organized, and HACCP-compliant.- Support daily food demonstrations for customers and colleagues, including preparation, cooking, and presentation.
  • Record and manage stock used during demonstrations, following established processes.
  • Maintain fridge and freezer hygiene and temperature logs in line with HACCP standards.
  • Ensure all cooking activities are properly documented and aligned with food safety protocols.

Product Development & Innovation

  • Support the Development Chef in creating and testing new recipes and product concepts.
  • Help prepare samples and prototypes for internal reviews and customer presentations.
  • Contribute ideas for improving existing product ranges and enhancing customer choice.
  • Assist in gathering feedback from demonstrations and workshops to inform product refinement.

Training & Customer Engagement

  • Help coordinate and deliver product training sessions for foodservice staff across sites.
  • Assist in scheduling and organizing demonstration activities with Demo Chefs and suppliers.
  • Participate in customer workshops, offering practical advice on menu solutions and cost-effective productusage.
  • Provide basic financial breakdowns and portion cost guidance to customers under supervision.

Candidate Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years experience in a professional kitchen or foodservice environment.
  • Strong interest in food development and culinary innovation.
  • Basic understanding of ingredients, nutrition, and recipe creation.
  • Willingness to learn about food manufacturing processes and recipe scalability.
  • Good communication and presentation skills; training experience is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Commercial awareness and basic numeracy skills (e.g., portion costing, profitability).
  • A team player with a proactive attitude and a passion for food.
  • Travel to other sites required throughout Ireland
