Position Summary
The University Relations and Development (URAD) team at San Diego State University is hiring a Development Coordinator to support impactful fundraising and engagement efforts. In this role, you’ll provide essential administrative, project, and event coordination support to help drive the university’s development initiatives forward.
Administrative Support : Provide high-level administrative assistance to assigned development teams, including scheduling, correspondence, and document preparation.
Project Management : Coordinate and track projects across teams to ensure timely and successful completion of development initiatives.
Event Coordination : Assist in planning and executing donor and fundraising events that promote meaningful engagement with SDSU supporters.
Team Collaboration : Work closely with colleagues across URAD units to and support shared goals.
Data & Record Management : Maintain accurate records and databases that contribute to the efficiency and success of fundraising operations.

Position Information
This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, permanent/probationary position.
This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation.
Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs. (Position requires the ability to travel and work outside of standard business hours, including evenings and weekends, on and off campus.)
This position is approved for partial telecommuting with onsite work in San Diego.
Department Summary
University Relations and Development (URAD) advances SDSU’s mission through strategic priorities like becoming a premier public research university, fostering resilience, promoting equity and inclusion, and centering students.
URAD builds lasting relationships with alumni, parents, donors, students, and the community to generate private support for diverse programs. It offers services in stewardship, events, gift administration, and communications.
In 2023-2024, URAD raised $131.9M, awarded 2,251 scholarships, and welcomed 5,006 first-time donors. The latest fundraising success can be credited to the university’s goal of building a world-class university campus, research center, and multi-use stadium in Mission Valley; all serving higher education, the public good, and the community’s goals and aspirations.
Education and Experience
Entry to this classification requires a fully functional knowledge of and skill in standard office procedures and practices, as well as an ability to understand and operate in a variety of organizational structures. Additionally, incumbents are expected to have a thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation and be able to clearly communicate orally and in writing. Some positions may require a knowledge of business mathematics beyond basic arithmetic. The ability to use and quickly learn new office support technology systems and software packages is also a prerequisite.
These qualifications would normally be obtained through a high school program, technical/vocational program, or their equivalents combined with several years of related office work experience.
Key Qualifications
Experience with Ellucian (or similar financial and biographical database).
Experience in performing basic prospect research and data analysis.
Experience in coordinating meetings and special events.
Experience with marketing and communications.
Experience in processing reimbursements for travel, mileage, reimbursements, payables, and procurement.
Experience in generating emails, letters, cards, invoices, etc., using mail merge functions.
A minimum of four years of progressively responsible administrative support, marketing/or communications experience is preferred.
Experience working in higher education or a public sector setting is preferred.
Experience working in a fundraising/development environment is preferred.
Licenses/Certifications Required
Valid California Driver’s License or the ability to obtain one within 10 days of hire.

CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,058 - $6,653 /month; hiring salary not expected to exceed $4,621 /month.
