The Faculty Development within VP Development and Alumni is currently seeking a Full-time Regular Development Coordinator, Faculty of Kinesiology.

On June 30, 2020, we closed Energize: The Campaign for Eyes High, a $1.3 billion comprehensive fundraising campaign. The Campaign was a tremendous success that has positively changed our campus community, our city and beyond through philanthropic support for student experiences that unleash potential; research outcomes that benefit society; and community connections that strengthen our ties. We have just finished a Year of Gratitude that saw us celebrate and honor our generous donors and stakeholders. Today we set our sights on fundraising for transformational transdisciplinary projects and programs that are of utmost importance to our diverse stakeholders.
The Advancement Office exists for the mutual benefit of the University of Calgary and its stakeholders and coordinates development, alumni relations, communications and community partnerships. The development area in particular is an active, collaborative team that enhances University fundraising efforts in support of designated University priorities.
The Development Coordinator will provide administrative assistance with emphasis on decision-making and highly developed organizational skills in support of the Faculty of Kinesiology. The ability to anticipate needs, plan, organize, coordinate, and perform work with no or very little direction is a strong requirement. Strong time management skills, with the ability to set own priorities, and to manage and prioritize multiple tasks to deadline is essential.
The incumbent will work with key staff in the faculty, including the Dean of the Faculty of Kinesiology, as well as Advancement team members. The Development Coordinator is often the first point of contact for the Advancement leads, and has access to highly sensitive and confidential information, and interacts with key external stakeholders including donors, alumni and community leaders.
The Development Coordinator requires knowledge of Development, Alumni and Community Engagement as well as Communications, and the processes and functions of the units within. Systems utilized for day-to-day business; Blackbaud CRM, NetCommunity, Development Request System and SharePoint. Strategic thinking, sound judgment, professionalism, interpersonal skills, efficient data entry and business communication skills, combined with accuracy and attention to detail will be required.
The primary purpose of this position is to support the Faculty of Kinesiology Development leads to ensure the goals and objectives of the faculty are supported by achieving alumni and community engagement and fundraising targets.
The position requires the ability to use discretion, maintain professionalism, confidentiality and composure under pressure, demonstrate adaptability and flexibility, provide efficient, quality service to all stakeholders, and often requires multi-tasking and the ability to deal with simultaneous priorities. The incumbent of this position requires a high level of independence and initiative and must have the ability to anticipate and strategically manage the workflow.
The volume and difficulty of the work varies from routine to complex. Having the ability to work in a fast paced, team environment, and under stressful situations, the need for accuracy, dealing with continuously shifting priorities, and a high traffic workplace with frequent interruptions is key to the success of the incumbent.
