Description
The Development Engineer for Electric vehicle thermal management technologies will be responsible to develop and improve the overall vehicle level thermal management on current and future generations of Electric Vehicle (EV) platforms. The responsibilities will be a combination of engineering problem solving, design ownership and cross-functional collaboration with talented and passionate colleagues who share your enthusiasm for technical excellence and innovation Key responsibilities include the following: Engage with OEM to capture thermal system requirements / development of system through the vehicle lifecycle. Development of AC compressor / Heat pump to meet thermal system and vehicle requirements on EV with optimal efficiency, cost, weight, manufacturability, and serviceability. Support product development and application launches, launch issues and field issues when appropriate. Create test request, execute tests, analyze test results and document test results. Accountable for documenting, presenting and reporting projects against a committed timeline Interface with suppliers and internal customers to ensure timely program deliverables within budget Takes accountability for planning and budget for his own projects. Work with Product Management & Integrated Supply Chain to select suppliers/plan procurement to produce new design. Plan for DFM with Advanced Manufacturing Engineering. Support for planning the product validations, priority and other cross functional escalations in TAM as required. Interface with internal teams, customers, and external vendors. Generate reports & documentation as and when required. Keep updated and available Product Specs, BOM’s, Ext-FA, DFMEA, DFM’s, Trade Off curves and other required technical documentation to support product applications. Ensure the training / development of self on tools in the area of expertise . Key Skills: Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Masters / Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Min 6-8 years of engineering experience Greenbelt & DFSS certified. Reasonable experience in Automotive industry background with exposure to centrifugal machine is preferable. Strong background and track record in product development, quality and production techniques in the automotive engineering. Ability to work independently in a fast-paced development environment Previous experience of working in cross functional teams would be an advantage. Proficient with CAE tools and engineering practices Effectively demonstrates ability to deliver on complex situations or problems without guidance or supervision Experience with automotive HVAC systems and components / system level interactions with various operating optimization trade off knowledge is preferable Experience with heat pumps/ electric compressor and its operating principles on Electric vehicle is preferable Conveys information with clarity and directness, ensuring the message is understood across diverse, global teams.
