Strathcona Resources Ltd. Strathcona is looking for a Development Engineering Co-op/Internship Student to support our Conventional Heavy Production Engineering Team.
This opportunity will begin May 2023 and will be available for either a 4-, 8-, or 12-month term.

Key accountabilities may include:

  • Support in Engineering Design and Development: Assist senior engineers in designing, developing, and optimizing our ongoing projects and production operations. This may include supporting development drilling projects and optimization of production from EOR floods and conventional fields.
  • Support in Project Management: Assist in tracking project progress, scheduling, and resource allocation to help ensure development projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Conduct Technical Research: Investigate production analogues, competitor activity, new technologies, and industry trends relevant to asset base. Provide insights into how these innovations can be applied to improve safety, efficiency, and sustainability in development projects.
  • Data Collection and Analysis: Assist with the collection and analysis of data from field operations, testing, and simulations. This may involve evaluating the performance of projects to capture lessons learned and improve future projects and our ongoing operations.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Produce detailed reports and technical documentation on development activities.
  • Field Operations Assistance: Occasionally, support field teams in the oil and gas production environment to gain practical insights into the challenges of equipment performance and field conditions.

Qualifications include:

  • Enrolled in a University Co-op or Internship program.
  • Strong academic background in an Engineering discipline.
  • Previous oil and gas experience is considered an asset.
  • Computer/Data analytics skills are essential.
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Adhere to all Company policies and procedures.

Other Details:

  • Position is based in Calgary, with occasional field travel as required for training/experience.
  • Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday with occasional on call support if operational
  • issues arise.
