About Redwood Materials Redwood is localizing a global battery supply chain that seamlessly integrates recovery, reuse, and recycling — keeping critical minerals in circulation and driving the energy transition. Founded in 2019, we’re delivering low-cost and large-scale energy storage and producing battery materials in the U.S. for the first time, all from batteries we already have. Development Engineering Technician, Electrochemistry Redwood Materials is seeking an R&D / Pilot Technician. In this role, you will run and execute experiments at the lab and pilot scale that will enable us to develop new equipment, flowsheets and products. Responsibilities will include: Build and maintain lab equipment Prepare solutions and conduct wet-chemistry bench experiments Prepare samples for analysis using established tests and techniques. Perform chemical analyses, optical measurements, and mechanical tests. Run and monitor experiments in high volume manufacturing Support the development of new metrology systems and prove their capabilities Desired Qualifications: Associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field. Demonstrated basic knowledge of math, chemistry and/or computer skills appropriate to the assignment. Mechanical design and fabrication experience Hands on experience building complex mechanical systems Laboratory experience in wet-chemistry and bench top experiments Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions. Strong written and verbal communication Organization and documentation skills. Strong ability to follow detailed technical instructions and operating procedures. Experience troubleshooting experiments. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. A passion for sustainability and making the world a better place! Physical Requirements: Must be able to work hands on in the lab, including standing and operating equipment at a lab bench. Able to work in laboratory and factory environment for extended periods. Able to lift up to 30lbs. Working Conditions: Environment: office, wet laboratory, chemical plant, outdoor test sites. Essential physical requirements: working hands-on in a research lab setting. Travel required as needed, less than 10% The position is full-time. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
