Job Description Position Purpose: The Development Intern supports the R&D engineering team while gaining hands-on exposure to mechanical engineering, industrial design, and prototyping within the medical device field. Under senior guidance, the intern assists with technical documentation, laboratory testing, and the preparation of specialized assembly workspaces. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to innovation sessions and ensure project milestones are met with precision. Ultimately, the intern will build a foundational understanding of professional, medical device R&D processes within a fast-paced environment. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Work collaboratively as a part of global, multi-disciplinary teams including engineers, industrial designers, quality engineers, and human factors engineers Participate in project team meetings and company training to better understand the development process Contribute to multi-disciplinary innovation sessions targeted at identifying possible development directions and support design implementation Work with development team members and program managers to assist with design control documentation and preparing new assembly workspaces Assist in the laboratory with mechanical testing and reports/presentations Qualifications POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field Attention to detail and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment Excellent problem solving skills and creativity Strong technical writing and verbal communication abilities Working knowledge of MS Office products Interest in product development for medical devices, specially drug delivery/combination products PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: Strong organizational and administrative skills Working knowledge of 3D modeling software such as Solidworks Relevant coursework or experience in product development or manufacturing Passion for designing and troubleshooting complex mechanisms Experience using mechanical testing systems WORK ENVIRONMENT: Works in an office and manufacturing environment with moderate noise level.
