Description Job Title Development Intern Department / Team Enterprise Operations Team (IT / Business Systems Development) Reporting Structure Reports to: CTO Supervises: None (Individual Contributor role) Location & Work Model Leesburg, VA — Hybrid FLSA Status Non-Exempt (Internship) Position Summary The Development Intern will assist Vertosoft’s IT Team with the design, development, and maintenance of internal applications, integrations, and automated workflows. This role focuses on low-code development, business system customization, and process automation across platforms such as OutSystems, Salesforce, Azure, and Wrike. The position offers hands-on exposure to real-world business systems, internal tooling, and integration architecture, with some crossover into IT operational support to ensure well-rounded technical experience and cross-team collaboration. Key Responsibilities Application Development & Automation Support the development and enhancement of internal applications using low-code platforms such as OutSystems. Assist with building and maintaining automated workflows to streamline business processes, including onboarding flows, price list management, and routine operational tasks. Participate in testing, troubleshooting, and refining internal tools and system enhancements. Integrations & Business Systems Assist with API-based integrations between enterprise systems such as Salesforce, Microsoft Azure, Celigo, and other internal platforms. Support configuration and workflow management within systems such as Salesforce and Wrike. Help maintain system configurations to ensure data accuracy and process reliability across platforms. Documentation & Process Improvement Document internal tools, workflows, and technical processes to support knowledge sharing and operational continuity. Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and efficiency gains. Assist with maintaining clean, organized technical documentation and system notes. Cross-Functional & IT Collaboration Collaborate closely with the IT Team on technical setup, system configuration, testing, and shared tooling initiatives. Provide limited support on IT-related tasks to gain broader exposure to enterprise technology operations. Partner with other interns and team members on cross-functional projects as needed. Required Qualifications Education Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related technical field. Technical Skills & Experience Foundational understanding of software concepts, workflows, and application development. Interest in low-code or no-code development platforms and business systems. Basic familiarity with APIs, integrations, or automation concepts preferred. Core Skills Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Ability to learn new platforms and technical concepts quickly. Clear communication skills and strong attention to detail. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience or coursework related to low-code platforms (e.g., OutSystems, PowerApps, similar tools). Exposure to Salesforce, cloud platforms (Azure or AWS), or integration tools. Familiarity with process automation, system workflows, or internal tooling.
