Position Summary:
The Development Manager is a strategic leader responsible for advancing Able’s fundraising goals through relationship cultivation, team leadership, and organizational collaboration. This role oversees all revenue-generating activities including individual giving, grant development, corporate sponsorships, and signature fundraising events. The Development Manager also supervises the Development Team, manages the department’s budget, and works closely with the Executive Director to shape long-term development strategies that align with Able’s mission and growth priorities.
The ideal candidate is a visionary fundraiser, experienced manager, and persuasive communicator who thrives in a mission-driven, team-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities:
· Design, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive development strategy.
· Lead and manage annual campaigns, donor appeals, sponsorship efforts, and special initiatives.
· Identify new funding sources and innovative approaches to sustainable revenue.
· Legacy giving / planned giving program development.
· Monthly giving program – developing and growing a sustainable recurring donor base.
· Identify and cultivate relationships with local, regional, and national corporations that align with the organization’s mission and values.
· Develop sponsorship packages for events, programs, and campaigns, highlighting naming opportunities, brand visibility, and employee engagement benefits.
· Create customized Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) partnership proposals that allow businesses to contribute financially while actively engaging their teams in volunteer or advocacy opportunities.
· Maintain year-round communication with corporate sponsors to ensure ongoing engagement, recognition, and renewal of support.
· Build and maintain strong relationships with major and mid-level donors, funders, and corporate partners.
· Oversee donor recognition, stewardship, and engagement strategies.
· Support cultivation events and donor communications to enhance giving.
· Supervise Development Team staff, ensuring alignment with goals and professional development.
· Manage departmental budget, revenue projections, and fundraising performance metrics.
· Collaborate across departments to ensure programmatic alignment with fundraising efforts.
· Grant strategy – prospect research, coordinating proposals, and developing multi-year funding pipelines.
Serve as a key liaison between the Executive Director and development initiatives.
Work with marketing and communications to align messaging and storytelling across campaigns.
Represent Able at community events, funder meetings, and strategic partnerships.
Board fundraising engagement – training board members to help with donor introductions and asks.
· Develop a consistent schedule for producing annual and mid-year impact reports tailored to donors, corporate sponsors, and community stakeholders.
· Gather and analyze program outcomes, client success stories, financial data, and key performance indicators to clearly demonstrate the organization’s results.
· Work with marketing and communications to design visually engaging, easy-to-read reports that balance data with compelling storytelling.
· Provide customized impact summaries for major donors and sponsors to show how their contributions directly fueled change.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, communications, business, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
Minimum 3–5 years of progressively responsible experience in nonprofit fundraising or development.
Proven track record of cultivating, soliciting, and closing major gifts.
Experience supervising staff and managing departmental budgets.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to inspire and influence.
Proficiency with donor databases (e.g., Bloomerang, Salesforce) and fundraising tools.

Skills:
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, interpret, and write business correspondence, reports, and procedure manuals.
Ability to communicate effectively with clients, stakeholders, and the general public.
Bilingual skills (Spanish, Hmong, Filipino, etc.) are an asset.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to perform basic calculations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Competency in handling U.S. currency and basic measurements.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Regularly required to walk, sit, stand, use hands, talk, and hear.
Occasionally lift or move up to 10 pounds.
May need to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Work Environment:
Primarily office or event-based with minimal exposure to mechanical equipment or hazardous conditions.
Noise level is generally quiet to moderate.
