We have an opportunity for a Development Manager to join our Land and New Business Team. You’ll be based out of our head office in Wembley, combining office and home working to ensure a positive work/life balance.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

  • Experience in the housing sector, ideally with a track record of taking projects from conception to acquisition, appointing and managing consultant teams to secure new opportunities.
  • Financially literate, with the ability to input and interpret complex development appraisal models.
  • Good understanding of commercial practices relevant to delivering new development.
  • Good knowledge of building contracts with a broad understanding of procurement methods for new build and regeneration.
  • Track record of building relationships with stakeholders and partners with the ability to influence and negotiate positive outcomes.
  • Driving licence with access to own vehicle.
Responsibilities

Reporting to the Head of Land and New Business, this role will lead and support the identification of New Business opportunities within the region and contribute to the implementation of the team’s investment and development strategies. The role will involve a range of projects including both section 106 opportunities and, land-led development where you will be progressing schemes from inception, through the planning process to secure a satisfactory planning consent, skilfully managing scheme risks and supporting delivery partner selection and appointment for onward handover to the Delivery teams.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead and support the identification and acquisition of New Business opportunities in line with the organisation’s regional development strategy and investment strategy.
  • Creating relationships with land agents, developers, local authorities, public landowners, and any other key stakeholders. In addition, supporting the assessment, appraisal and exploration of SNG-owned land requiring close working with members of the wider organisation.
  • Establish and maintain a network of contacts across national and regional developers and housebuilders, agents, contractors, lawyers and professional consultancies, and public sector entities including local authorities, Homes England and the GLA.
  • Establish strong links with internal consultees including those across Customer, Asset Management, Built Environment and Development Finance teams, to support potential developments in accordance with internal procedures.
  • Regularly appraise opportunities using financial appraisal software to assess scheme performance in line with approved financial hurdles. Liaise with key internal teams and external consultants to ensure accurate inputs and compliance with financial regulations
  • Deploy strong project, programme and financial management throughout the pre-construction stage. Report upwards as required and track, flag and mitigate risk in a timely manner. Maintain a risk register and update as the project evolves.
