POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Development Officer is a high performer responsible for effectively identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding annual and mid-level gift donors. Building and managing a robust portfolio of donors and prospects, the Development Officer is responsible for cultivating and securing gifts, that will help advance CAN’s wide range of programs and operations.
Reporting to the Director of Development, this high achiever will lead and play an active role in creating and implementing provincial wide fundraising campaigns and initiatives. They will be accountable for meeting annual revenue objectives and is expected to spend a great deal of time directly engaging with prospects and donors. They are passionate for the cause and making a difference in the community.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Post-secondary degree in related discipline such as fundraising, marketing, business administration, philanthropy, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in fundraising or comprehensive relationship building experience and successful track record.
  • Strong knowledge and experience of all aspects of database management; experience with Raiser’s Edge an asset.

  • Ability to work strategically, developing and implementing successful fundraising programs and plans.

  • Ability to work autonomously and to take ownership of area of responsibility.
  • Ability to be an active listener is essential.
  • Ability to ask leading questions, which encourage prospects and donors to talk about themselves and their activities.
  • Impeccable attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to balance competing priorities, complex situations, and tight deadlines.
  • Comfortable with technology and strong computer skills including MS Office, P2P Platforms, Mail Out applications (such as Mail Chimp) and other fundraising platforms.
  • Flexible and easily adaptable.
  • Ability to represent CAN at external events.
  • Highly effective interpersonal skills and collaborative team player.
  • A valid BC Driver’s license and own transportation.
