POSITION SUMMARY:

Actalent continues to build its software division and strengthen its software development capabilities in Montréal. We have a new engineering facility in Ville Saint-Laurent and offer a highly collaborative and cohesive work environment. This new position follows Actalent’s decision to invest in hiring several long-term employees to create a critical mass of talent within its software team. The Software Developer will be responsible for the complete lifecycle and development of software on complex projects (design, development, testing, etc.). Most of Actalent’s current projects are focused on C++ development in a Linux environment, but we are interested in receiving applications from versatile developers who can support complex projects related to various other technologies.
This position is based at a client location in Laval (Autoroute 440 and boul Curé-Labelle). This is an on-site position, requiring a presence in our client’s offices 4-5 days a week. Our client is based in the mining and construction industry, and the developer will initially work with this client on their next generation of products (detection systems, operator assistance features, autonomous trucks, bulldozers and drills, etc).

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

1. The developer should have a strong background in software development, OR be a graduate of a software or electrical engineering program
2. Experience in Object-Oriented C++ development, (C++11 and newer, 3+ years)
3. Experience using Python (3+ years), ideally in an automated testing context
4. Experience with Linux or other POSIX-based operating systems (3+ years)
5. Experience or knowledge of validation using unit tests or integration tests
6. Understanding of Agile methodology and familiarity with the Azure DevOps system (an asset)

3. Be able to communicate well, verbally and in writing, in French and English

1. Responsible for the development of the complete software life cycle (design, development, unit testing, etc.)
2. Ability to deliver results independently
3. Work with the Group Manager to deliver complex projects for our clients
4. Interact with end users of the product, when necessary
5. Participate in daily and weekly meetings (scrum and stand-up meetings ) and provide an update on the progress of projects
