The Sovereign Cloud Automation & Tooling (SAT) team is responsible for driving secure, compliant, and automated operational tooling for SAP’s Sovereign Cloud offerings across regulated markets such as the UK, Canada, Australia, and more. The team owns critical platforms like the Operations Control Plane (OCP) and integrates with tools including FRUN, LAMA, Dynatrace, and Solution Manager (SolMan), enabling lifecycle management, observability, and automation at scale.
We are looking for an experienced and technically strong DevOps Architect to lead the design, standardization, and evolution of DevOps architecture and automation tooling within the SAT portfolio.
In addition to driving automation excellence for current SAT tools, this role requires a forward-looking mindset to actively contribute to R&D initiatives with emerging hyperscaler platforms such as SAP Cloud Infrastructure (Converged Cloud), Azure, and GCP, evaluating their applicability, automation patterns, and compliance readiness for sovereign cloud operations
This position can be filled in part time as well.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and ownership of SAT DevOps architecture, ensuring secure, scalable, and reliable pipelines, automation, and tooling across multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure, OpenStack).
• Define and implement CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and DevSecOps standards across the SAT portfolio.
• Evaluate and pilot new automation tools, frameworks, and architectures in collaboration with product, engineering, and security teams.
• Drive R&D initiatives to explore emerging hyperscaler platforms (e.g., SAP Cloud Infrastructure (SCI/Converged Cloud), Azure, GCP) and assess their fitment and integration into SAT automation models.
• Design and implement automation blueprints and patterns for upcoming sovereign cloud regions using new hyperscaler services.
• Collaborate with security, compliance, and architecture teams to ensure DevOps practices meet strict sovereignty, data residency, and security requirements.
• Act as a trusted advisor to engineering and operations teams, guiding DevOps adoption and toolchain evolution.
