ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Strong knowledge of cloud computing, ideally with hands-on experience using AWS.
  • Advanced skills working in Linux-based environments.
  • Solid experience with Docker and containerised application development.
  • Familiarity with the DevOps lifecycle and a clear understanding of best practices.
  • A genuine passion for software development and building robust infrastructure solutions.
  • Experience setting up and maintaining CI/CD pipelines to automate build, test, and deployment workflows.
Responsibilities

THE ROLE:

The DevOps Engineer will join an award-winning team and oversee a group of half-a-dozen DevOps Engineers. This role involves working hands-on with a selection of e-commerce projects for the company’s clients.
Work in the office during the first 6 months - Then hybrid role with 3 days in the office

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design and support cloud infrastructure, primarily using AWS, to deliver scalable and cost-effective solutions that follow best practices.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and Bitbucket Pipelines to streamline deployment and testing.
  • Define and manage infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC), primarily with AWS CDK, ensuring reproducibility and reliability.
  • Support containerisation efforts for production and development environments using Docker and relevant orchestration tools.
  • Gather key metrics and assist with debugging using monitoring and logging tools such as CloudWatch and New Relic.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts to improve developer workflows and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with developers on e-commerce platforms such as Magento (Adobe Commerce) and BigCommerce to deliver tailored infrastructure solutions.
  • Ensure PCI DSS compliance and proactively advise clients on relevant security updates and patches.
  • Contribute to troubleshooting production issues and support the post-incident review process to drive continuous improvement.
  • Maintain clear, useful documentation, including developer guides, process notes, and architecture diagrams.
  • Work closely with internal teams and clients in an Agile SCRUM environment, fostering strong communication and problem-solving.
