WHO WE ARE SUPPORTING

The NATO Communication and Information Agency (NCIA) is responsible for providing secure and effective communications and information technology (IT) services to NATO’s member countries and its partners. The agency was established in 2012 and is headquartered in Brussels, Belgium.

The NCIA provides a wide range of services, including:

  • Cyber Security: The NCIA provides advanced cybersecurity solutions to protect NATO’s communication networks and information systems against cyber threats.
  • Command and Control Systems: The NCIA develops and maintains the systems used by NATO’s military commanders to plan and execute operations.
  • Satellite Communications: The NCIA provides satellite communications services to enable secure and reliable communications between NATO forces.
  • Electronic Warfare: The NCIA provides electronic warfare services to support NATO’s mission to detect, deny, and defeat threats to its communication networks.
  • Information Management: The NCIA manages NATO’s information technology infrastructure, including its databases, applications, and servers.

Overall, the NCIA plays a critical role in ensuring the security and effectiveness of NATO’s communication and information technology capabilities.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum 2 years’ experience with:

  • Latest Virtualization Technologies and Operating Systems
  • Design, implement and troubleshoot Infrastructure Failover Clusters (VMware and Microsoft)
  • Latest Server, Storage, Client and Infrastructure Networking hardware technologies
  • Directory, Identity and Access Management in large enterprise environments consisting of multiple interconnected and federated Active Directory Domains and Forests
  • Automated Application and Service Deployment (Ansible/Kubernetis)
  • Scripting in PowerShell, Python, Ruby and vSphere CLI In addition, you will need to demonstrate experience in various areas of Software Engineering including some of the following:
  • Email and collaboration services technologies (e.g. MS Exchange and Skype for Business)
  • Requirements elicitation and management
  • Software design, implementation and testing
  • Configuration management practices and tools
  • Knowledge of ITIL IT service management model
  • Experience and applied knowledge of Service Transition are required

DESIRABLE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Prior experience of working in an international environment comprising both military and civilian elements
  • Knowledge of NATO responsibilities and organization
  • Experience from working in a service provisioning organization Experience with at least two of the following:
  • Cloud Computing Systems such as Microsoft Remote Desktop Infrastructure and Vmware Horizon View
  • Design and implementation of Active Directory Federation Services in large enterprise environments;
  • Antivirus Management Systems (i.e. McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator)
  • Enterprise Systems Management services, methods and tools (i.e. SCOM, SCCM, SCVMM)
  • WEB Portal Technologies and High Availability Database Systems (i.e. SQL Cluster)
  • At least 1 year experience support by professional certification in the implementation and administration of COTS products such as MS Windows Server,Linux, Oracle, MS SQL, VMware, MS Hyper- V, MS SharePoint, MS Active Directory and Active Directory Federation Services, MS Exchange, MS Skypefor Business, Client OS (Windows, OSX, iOS, Android etc.)

Responsibilities

The contractor, under the direction of the NCIA ID&E OPEX DevOPS Lead Engineer in Mons, Belgium, will assist in the configuration of the Core and infrastructure Services of NATO’s Deployable Communications and Information Systems (DCIS) assets.

The contractor will provide Level 3 DEVOPS support for the Core Services in the assigned DCIS. Tasks assigned, include but not limited to:

  • Provides professional and technical contributions to the conception, development and execution of CES engineering projects
  • Contributes to the design, implementation, configuration management, deployment systems and services
  • Participates in the installation and configuration management of laboratory-based prototype systems developed in CES SL and ensure their coherence with other systems (e.g. communications networks) or aspects (e.g. Security);
  • Supports the monitoring and troubleshoot system failures or bugs and provides solutions to restore functionality;
  • Supports the automated deployment of defined software baselines;
  • Provides documents and implementations of assigned services as well as troubleshooting guides;
  • Schedules, participates and leads technical support teams in support of Projects and exercises;
  • Coordinates, plans and schedules team activities, estimate resources and financial requirements;
  • Provides training when necessary in order to maintain highly skilled and trained technical support for the Service Line;
  • Gives briefings and presentations; writes and/or review reports and articles for publication;
  • Performs ad hoc tasks related to CES SL’s responsibilities;
  • Deputizes for higher grade staff;
  • Performs other duties as may be required.
