Due to the secure nature of the programme, you will need to hold the highest level of UK Security Clearance or be eligible to go through this. The work will be on site 5 days a week in Gloucester.

YOUR FUTURE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

In this role, you will design, build, and enhance automated solutions that underpin secure and scalable platforms across critical missions. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, applying your expertise to optimise CI/CD pipelines, automate infrastructure provisioning, and manage containerised environments. Your contribution will directly support project success, enabling faster delivery cycles and robust, resilient systems that our clients rely on every day.
As part of CGI, you will take ownership of key delivery outcomes, innovate with new technologies, and be supported by a collaborative network of experts. This role will give you the opportunity to develop creative solutions, influence best practices, and make a meaningful impact in defence and intelligence projects that matter.

Key responsibilities include:

• Lead & Innovate: Develop and optimise CI/CD pipelines tailored for on-premise systems.
• Develop & Deliver: Contribute to backend development and automation frameworks using Java, Python, C#, and C++.
• Automate & Optimise: Provision, configure, and monitor infrastructure using Ansible, Terraform, and Linux administration.
• Containerise & Orchestrate: Deploy and manage services with Docker and Kubernetes for scalability and resilience.
• Integrate & Support: Configure message brokers (ActiveMQ, RabbitMQ) and maintain MySQL databases.
• Secure & Monitor: Ensure compliance with PKI and troubleshoot across systems, middleware, and networks.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE

To succeed in this role, you should bring strong technical expertise in development, automation, or infrastructure, alongside a collaborative mindset to work effectively in complex, mission-critical environments. You will need the ability to solve problems creatively, apply secure practices, and deliver reliable solutions that drive measurable outcomes.

You should have:

• Proficiency in Java, Python, C#, or C++ for scripting and backend development.
• Strong Linux system administration and configuration management skills.
• Hands-on experience with Ansible, Terraform, and automation tools.
• Proven ability with Kubernetes and Docker orchestration.
• Working knowledge of ActiveMQ, RabbitMQ, and MySQL.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, Git, Bitbucket).
• Understanding of PKI and enterprise security practices.
