YOUR MISSION

As a DevOps Engineer at Wandelbots, the mission for you and your team is: Build, run, and own a reliable and easy-to-use operating system and infrastructure, that will be used to deploy the Wandelbots solutions. Provide proper testing and documentation and have a close eye on security-related topics for industry IT.
The team is planning, developing, and releasing the operating system as well as corresponding central infrastructure that our application developers rely on to deploy our products for customers. Working closely with peers both in the team and beyond, getting a good understanding of customer demands, and taking responsibility are key for the team. Providing support for their product comes as a natural part of the team’s DevOps mindset.
An open mind that allows you to learn new things, but also teach your knowledge to others is a huge plus. You will have dedicated time to learn and experiment. You will work with on-premise and cloud services alike.

In a typical product iteration, you will:

  • gather and analyze requirements
  • provide architecture, concepts and implementation of components like:
  • operating system
  • container orchestration
  • tooling and cloud services
  • remote and on-site management solutions
  • engineer and implement monitoring and auditing solutions
  • automate the build- and continuous-delivery process
  • train and onboard other departments and developers alike
  • operate production systems for customers

YOUR PROFILE

As a DevOps Engineer, you will get in touch with different technologies and adapt to upcoming solutions. We are looking for someone who is interested in “the new stuff”, but who also has an eye on “ready for production”.

  • You bring a problem-solving hands-on attitude
  • Teaching and mentoring are natural traits of your character
  • You have an excellent Linux background (CentOS/Fedora/Alma Linux based distributions)
  • You possess very good knowledge in at least one programming or scripting language
  • You are familiar with container technologies like Docker and Kubernetes
  • Proven experience running production workloads in cloud environments (Azure preferred)
  • Proficient in deploying and maintaining cloud infrastructure with infrastructure as code tools, ideally Terraform
  • Solid experience building CI/CD pipelines
  • You feel comfortable working in an agile team
  • You are fluent in written and spoken English

You are awesome if

  • Kubernetes Administration: Hands-on experience with setting up, managing, and troubleshooting Kubernetes clusters
  • Experience with specific Azure Services:
  • solid knowledge on authentication with OIDC: setup an identity providers, preferably Azure Entra ID
  • Azure ARC: manage on premise devices
  • AKS Edge Essentials: managing on-premise Kubernetes clusters
  • Advanced Networking Knowledge
  • Experience establishing connectivity between on-premises and cloud environments
  • Ability to support proxy configurations in restricted network environments (limited outbound access)
  • Familiarity with relevant Azure networking services e.g. Azure VPN Gateway and Site-to-site VPN
  • Operational Excellence: Experience in setting up and using Observability Stack for logs, metrics and alerting with Grafana
  • relevant Azure Cloud certifications (e.g. Microsoft Certified: DevOps Engineer Expert - Certifications )
  • Your German is on a conversational level
  • You are able to name at least five robots
