Description

DevOps engineering is a broad term encompassing multiple disciplines in current software development organizations. At Wenco, a DevOps Engineer is part of a team that is responsible for both System Reliability and Platform Engineering. In the system reliability space we are responsible for the delivery, monitoring and support of enhancements to Wenco’s products. In the platform engineer space we are responsible for the delivery and support of enhancements to our software development platform.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver technical solutions which improve overall quality, performance and security of our product.
  • Design and deliver technical solutions which improve the product build, deployments, monitoring and alerting.
  • Continually improve the reliability, security, efficiency and effectiveness of our platform.
  • Automate routine processes.
  • Automate system monitoring processes.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation.
  • Participate in managing cloud infrastructure and system administration.
  • Work with development teams to identify and rectify issues on an as-needed basis.
  • Provide direct support during various operations such as product deployment and infrastructure upgrade.
  • Collaborate with developers and IT to ensure new environments meet requirements and conform to best practices

Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience working as a software developer
  • 2+ years experience in a DevOps engineer role as an SRE or Platform Engineer.
  • Experience across the entire development lifecycle from concept to development, unit testing, automated functional testing, deployment and monitoring
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration and management tools such as Kubernetes
  • Experience automating and designing coded infrastructure
  • Working understanding of SOLID
  • Experience working with Scrum practices
  • A solid working understanding of open-source DevOps technologies and cloud services

Skills

  • Software engineering lifecycle
  • Amazon Web Services - core services (ECR, EC2, VPC, IAM…) + message queueing, data storage
  • Information and system security
  • Cloud Infrastructure and Infrastructure as Code
  • Network design
  • Problem troubleshooting and management
  • At least two programming languages such as: C++, C#.Net, Python, Javascript…
  • Docker, Kubernetes and other containerization tools

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Cloud Native Computing Foundation tools

Education & Eligibility

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or relevant field with 3+ years of overall experience.
  • Must be eligible to work in Australia or Canada.

Travel

  • Availability for 5% travel.
