As a DevOps Engineer for Optical Transport Networks, you can expect varied work, including assignments at different locations across the Netherlands as well as working from home. Together with an enthusiastic and driven team, you will be responsible for the top performance of KPN’s most critical networks. You will face complex challenges and regularly work under time pressure, while also contributing to high-tech innovations. You will become part of the Optical Transport Dev team. This team is responsible for the renewal of our optical (D)WDM networks, in accordance with the requirements set by our stakeholders. The Dev team currently consists of five enthusiastic members between the ages of 52 and 64. Job Description You develop, build, configure, and maintain technical IT/TI solutions for Optical (DWDM) Transport Networks. Together with the team, you work on improving technical products and services in order to add value and contribute to the organization’s objectives. Within the Dev team, you work on state-of-the-art innovations in functionality, performance, and security, where the integration of multiple systems, infrastructures, or services is often required. You provide technical support based on your knowledge and experience during the implementation of products and services, analyze complex incidents, and deliver technical solutions. You ensure that recurring outages are added to the backlog so they can be structurally addressed. You prepare technical documentation and are able to provide advice to customers or stakeholders based on your expertise. In addition, you support and guide less experienced colleagues and actively promote knowledge sharing. You have HBO-level knowledge of IT/TI DWDM solutions and extensive experience in this field. You are not afraid to share new ideas and encourage your team to optimize both the technology and the way of working. You are able to take the lead in managing solutions and ensure collaboration and support throughout the solution process. You can manage multiple initiatives simultaneously and easily switch between tasks. You are able to put yourself in the mindset of our customers and maintain strong relationships with partners, administrators, and specialists. This challenging DevOps Engineer role requires a results-oriented and independent personality with a strong sense of responsibility. To be successful in this role, we also expect: HBO-level working and thinking capability (higher professional education level) Solid knowledge of and experience with optical (D)WDM networks, their network element management systems, and underlying operating systems and platforms Strong verbal and written communication skills, with proficiency in both Dutch and English Knowledge of and experience with acceptance testing Knowledge of and experience with implementing network software updates Affinity with automating your own work and that of the team Knowledge of security and compliance requirements Don’t meet every requirement?
