The Position: We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled DevOps Engineer - Senior. This role is integral to ensuring the modernization and efficiency of our software systems, driving mission-critical operations, and enabling agile, scalable, and secure solutions for the DoD and PMA-281.
Salary: The estimated salary range for this position is $180,000 - $220,000 annually, based upon an individual’s level of experience, skillset, and education. The range that is given is an estimate and may vary based on contractual constraints. At AM Pierce & Associates, it is our goal to provide equitable compensation to all employees.

THE DESCRIPTION:

Other duties/responsibilities include:

  • DevOps Strategy & Leadership:
  • Develop, implement, and manage advanced DevOps frameworks to streamline the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Guide DevOps best practices, including CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), and automation.
  • Infrastructure Management:
  • Design, build, and maintain scalable, secure, and reliable cloud and on-premises infrastructures using modern DevOps tools and methodologies.
  • Optimize system performance and scalability to support mission-critical operations.
  • Collaboration & Integration:
  • Partner with development, operations, and security teams to integrate advanced technologies and methodologies across the organization.
  • Ensure seamless collaboration across cross-functional teams to meet project timelines and objectives.
  • Security & Compliance:
  • Implement and maintain security protocols and compliance with DoD standards, including Risk Management Framework (RMF) and STIGs.
  • Proactively address vulnerabilities and ensure robust system protection.
  • Automation & Modernization:
  • Drive automation efforts, including configuration management, monitoring, and deployment, to minimize downtime and accelerate delivery.
  • Lead modernization initiatives by integrating emerging technologies to enhance mission capabilities.
  • Mentorship & Knowledge Sharing:
  • Provide mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
  • Lead technical workshops and training sessions to disseminate DevOps expertise across teams.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Active DoD Secret clearance, required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degrees are a plus.
  • Minimum of fifteen (15) years in DevOps, software development, or related technical roles, with at least ten (10) years in a leadership capacity.
  • Proficiency in DevOps tools such as Jenkins, GitLab, Ansible, Terraform, Kubernetes, and Docker.
  • Expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and hybrid cloud environments.
  • Deep knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, automation frameworks, and Infrastructure-as-Code.
  • Hands-on experience with DoD systems, software development practices, and operational standards.
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and compliance frameworks (e.g., RMF, STIGs).

PREFERRED SKILLSET:

  • Experience with AI/ML integration for DevOps processes.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence).
  • Certification(s): AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), or equivalent.
  • Proven track record of implementing modernization initiatives within a government or military environment.
