Project Kuiper is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite broadband network. As a Development Operations Maintenance Technician on the Project Kuiper DevOps Equipment Team, you will bring a strong base of hands-on skills in mechanical or electrical disciplines to support complex development equipment used across the organization for critical testing. You will work semi-autonomously installing and commissioning functional test equipment, developing and executing preventative/predictive maintenance tasks and driving full life cycle maintenance support. You will work alongside Lab Engineers, playing a key role in maintaining a safe, functional, and scalable development lab. Key job responsibilities - Independently execute electrical and mechanical tasks such as installation and commissioning of thermal chambers, TVAC chambers, Vibration and shock test equipment. - Set up and operate equipment with moderate complexity (Stringers, laminators, spot welders, chillers and various fluid pumps). - Perform functional checks, basic troubleshooting and root cause failure analysis on supported test equipment. - Interpret moderately complex drawings, schematics, and equipment designs. - Identify, procure and build an inventory of single point failure critical spare parts. - Have a fundamental understanding of liquid and gaseous nitrogen and its applications inside the facility. - Identify electrical and other utility requirements dictated by equipment manufacturer. - Mentor and cross-train new technicians on specialized procedures and equipment. - Help improve and define lab procedures, support 6S/Kaizen activities, and maintain consumable parts inventory (fittings, hoses and tubing). - Maintain high standards for lab safety, data cleanliness, and documentation practices. - Apply knowledge of industry and internal standards to identify missing or ambiguous information in equipment layout, design and operation; proactively communicate gaps to engineers or lab leadership and provide recommendations to improve processes and procedures during development. A day in the life This position will work side by side with Engineering and multiple development teams, ensuring all test equipment is maintained daily and operating nominally. The base pay for this position ranges from $59,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $133,200/year in our highest geographic market.
