BACHELOR’S OR MASTER’S DEGREE IN DEAF EDUCATION, ACTIVE DHH TEACHING CERTIFICATION, AND 1+ YEARS TEACHER OF THE DEAF / HARD OF HEARING EXPERIENCE REQUIRED. APPLICANTS WHO DO NOT MEET THESE QUALIFICATIONS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.

An opportunity is available for a Teacher of Deaf and Hard of Hearing students at an elementary school setting in Mexico, MO. This contract position is set for the upcoming school year (NSY) and involves working directly with young learners to support their educational and communication needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction tailored for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Develop individualized education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with support staff and families
  • Utilize assistive technology and communication strategies to enhance student participation
  • Monitor student progress and adjust teaching methods accordingly
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and related service providers to support inclusive education
  • Maintain accurate records and comply with all educational and legal requirements

Desired Qualifications:

  • Certification or licensure in Deaf and Hard of Hearing education
  • Experience teaching in an elementary school environment
  • Strong knowledge of relevant instructional strategies and communication methods, such as sign language or auditory-verbal techniques
  • Ability to work collaboratively with educators, families, and therapists
  • Patience, adaptability, and strong interpersonal skills
