Description High Risk Obstetrical Consultants is looking to add a dynamic Nurse Practitioner to our diabetes team. The mid-level practitioner will provide diabetic services to our Type 1, Type 2 and Gestational Diabetic patients. The below is an overview and may not be inclusive of all responsibilities. Position Overview The Nurse Practitioner provides specialty appropriate patient diagnosis, treatments/procedures, education, consultation, and follow-up under the supervision of one or more physicians. About the Position This is a full-time position consisting of 4 ½ days per week. The candidate will be responsible for compassionately caring for pregnant women. You must also be able to devise a detailed treatment plan that will further the care and treatment of our patients. Assessing appropriate gestational progress Educating patients about diabetes in pregnancy Eliciting comprehensive health histories Ordering and interpreting common laboratory and other diagnostic tests Prescribing medication Scheduling new referrals in an appropriate time frame. Ordering immunizations Adjust oral medication and insulin adjustments as appropriate Educating diabetic patients on carbohydrate counting, meal planning, use of glucose monitors, logging results, insulin pens, and insulin pumps to assist with calculated doses Build a rapport with providers to discuss ongoing patient plans of care Record detailed and accurate documentation in the medical chart Effective communication with all team members Benefits available including health insurance, dental insurance, 401K with Match and paid time off. Requirements Current Nurse Practitioner License Certified Diabetes Educator or willingness to achieve certification A minimum of two years diabetic education experience. Comfortable with computer platforms such as Word, Excel, Outlook
Responsibilities
The Nurse Practitioner will provide diabetic services to Type 1, Type 2, and Gestational Diabetic patients, including patient diagnosis, treatment, education, and follow-up. Responsibilities also include assessing gestational progress, ordering tests, prescribing medication, and educating patients on diabetes management.
