An exciting opportunity has arisen within Glasgow City HSCP based across the North East Locality.
We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and enthusiastic Band 6 Community Diabetes Specialist Nurse to join our Community Diabetes Specialist Nursing Team.
The Post Holder will act as an informed member of the diabetes team with specialist knowledge in diabetes care, supporting people living with diabetes alongside their families & carers. They will be responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of high-quality, complex specialist nursing care programmes. They will be expected to work within appropriate guidelines and protocols, leading, supervising and deploying nursing staff. They will work as an autonomous practitioner whilst doing nurse led clinics and domiciliary visits. They will support patients through difficult life experiences that may affect their diabetes control and enable patients to optimise their glycaemic control with life-style advice that meets their specific needs, setting realistic targets for glycaemic control.
The preferred candidate will have excellent knowledge and communication skills. They will be expected to provide Specialist Diabetes advice and education to patients, relatives, GP’s, District Nurses and other professionals within Glasgow City HSCP.
It is essential that you are currently a Registered Nurse with the NMC and have a Specialist qualification or similar in Diabetes Care. The Post holder will have an interest in the management and delivery of complex specialist diabetes care within the Primary Care setting. V300 qualification or working towards / willing to work towards is desirable for this post. Current driving license is desirable due to extended geographical area.
1 x permanent post, Shift Pattern 08:30 – 16:30 5 over 7 days.
This post requires membership of Disclosure Scotland’s PVG Scheme.
