The Greater Manchester Region serves a region of 300,000 people in 19 towns. POSITION SUMMARY: Radiology Tech Aide performs specific tasks supporting the delivery of patient care in an assigned area. Works under the direction of a Registered Technologist and/or Registered Nurse. Assists with receiving patients in the exam room, proper positioning of patients for exams, discussing exams and preps with patients. Prepare examination rooms and ensure equipment is clean and ready for use. Maintain patient comfort, safety, and confidentiality. Stock supplies and manage inventory in the department. Assists in the transport of patients to and from the designated exam area and with other duties as assigned. Will assist Technologist on recording patient history on screening questionnaire. COMPETENCIES: · Must become certified in Basic Cardiac Life Support within introductory period of the position and maintain clinical competency during employment with HHC in this role. Job-Specific Competency 1. Performs patient transportation duties to ensure patient safety and care. 2. Positions patients correctly for exams. 3. Utilizes proper body mechanics in moving patients. 4. Assists patients to obtain required information on questionnaire. 5. Documents correctly into Meditech system. 6. Keeps inventory levels adequate at end of shift. 7. Follows proper procedure to ensure authorizations are obtained. 8. Uses safety devices such as patient straps, patient slider, Velcro straps. 9. Assists in training new staff. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED equivalent. EXPERIENCE: At least one year of previous medical experience preferred. Basic computer knowledge of Word and Excel. Bilingual capabilities in Spanish are desirable, but not required.
