Schedule: Full Time Monday - Friday 7:30am - 4pm Shift: Days Location: 7975 Lake Underhill Road, Suite 100Orlando, FL 32822 The community you’ll be caring for: AdventHealth East Orlando AdventHealth East Orlando, a 265-bed community hospital, has been serving East Orlando residents since 1941 as an innovative local leader that fills a vital need in a fast-growing area A recent 200,000 square-foot expansion project upgraded the hospital to 265 beds, with a spacious patient tower and 80 new private rooms designed to enhance the holistic care experience Annual number of emergency cases: 89,018 The role you’ll contribute: The Diagnostic Medical and Vascular Sonographer, under general supervision performs general Sonography and Vascular Sonography procedures in accordance with department protocols. Performs, at a technical level, a variety of ultrasound procedures on neonatal through geriatric patients. Assists physicians with interventional procedures. Selects practical applications and technical factors. Is knowledgeable in and carries out all applicable processes of the department. Assumes responsibility for designated areas or procedures. Participates in the AdventHealth performance improvement program. Adheres to the AdventHealth Corporate Compliance Plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state, and federal agencies and accrediting bodies. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. The value you’ll bring to the team: • Demonstrates, through behavior, AdventHealth's core values of Integrity, Compassion, Balance, Excellence, Stewardship, and Teamwork. •Exam Supervision and Administration: Consistently obtains the highest quality scans possible in relation to patient body habitus and/or NPO prep status as observed by Radiologists, Ultrasound Educator, and Ultrasound Manager. Follows proper exam protocols as outlined in department Policy and Procedure manual. Utilizes two patient identifiers to confirm patient/exam accuracy before administering exam. Performs, properly documents, and reports all procedures in accordance with departmental policy. Adapts procedure to each patient's medical situation obtaining all available necessary information for proper interpretation. Maintains patient confidentiality. •Diagnostic Image Quality and Documentation: Reviews all images on ultrasound machine or Web and thoroughly fills out Ultrasound worksheet in a timely manner. Re-scans patient as requested by Radiologist. Is open to critique of exams by Radiologist and/or department Manager/Educator. Exhibits desire to learn and upgrade clinical skills. Maintains familiarity with new procedures. Assists with clinical instructions and serves as a resource to less experienced employees. •Personal Productivity and Accountability: Completes exams in a timely manner. Properly and consistently evaluates patient prep status and schedules exam accordingly. Coordinates acceptable patient throughput in either an IP and/or OP setting keeping the department on schedule and maintaining desired productivity. Follows direction from Manager and Lead Sonographer. Keeps supervisor or manager informed and seeks assistance from appropriate individuals when confronted with complicated procedures to ensure safe and effective patient care. Communicates and collaborates with multidisciplinary team. Communicates abnormal findings to the reading physicians and notifies the physicians of procedures to be interpreted. Maintains a professional relationship with all customers. Communicates with patients and family members appropriate to age and understanding. •Data Processing: Utilizes computer system to update exam status, cancel/update orders as needed. Ensures charges match procedure completed. Confirms proper exam/patient assignment at QC before releasing images to PACS for interpretation. Corrects erroneous accession numbers in PACS when needed. Notifies Radiology Facilitator (RF) and transmits required worksheet and requisition for all after-hour's cases. Effective knowledge of all Information Systems used in the Ultrasound department. Accurately documents, completes and charges procedures to ensure quality standards set by the department and hospital. Follows all AdventHealth policies and departmental procedures' outlines. The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed: Minimum qualifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification •ARDMS/ARRT and/or CCI credentials to include: 1.Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer RDMS (AB) and 2.Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer RDMS (OB/GYN) OR 3.American Registry of Radiologic Technologies RT (S) 4.Registered Vascular Technology RVT (VT) OR 5.Registered Vascular Sonographer RVS OR 6.American Registry of Radiologic Technologies RT (VS) Preferred qualifications: •Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer RDMS (BR) OR •American Registry of Radiologic Technologies RT (BS)
