Your Opportunity:
Alberta Health Services (AHS) is seeking an enthusiastic Diagnostic Sonographer to join our team at the Royal Alexandra Hospital (RAH). Located steps from Edmonton’s Ice District, the RAH is an 882-bed facility and Western Canada’s largest, busiest hospital—serving a population that spans one-third of Canada’s land mass. As a leader in specialized care, research, and education, RAH delivers advanced, patient-centred services in a workplace culture known as the “RAH-Way,” where staff are encouraged to use their voice, advocate for patients, and take pride in their work. In this role, your skills will directly impact patient care. With strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and compassionate bedside manner, you will provide high-quality imaging to support accurate diagnoses, monitor conditions, and guide physicians during real-time procedures. Your ability to balance precision with patient comfort ensures individuals feel supported throughout their care journey. The position requires standing for long periods, pushing and pulling stretchers and equipment, and lifting up to 50 lbs. As part of our collaborative Diagnostic Imaging Services team, you’ll gain experience in general ultrasound, the ECHO lab, and the Maternal Fetal Medicine Clinic, performing both routine and complex scans vital to patient outcomes. This role offers opportunities to expand your expertise, contribute to groundbreaking care, and work within a team that values innovation, excellence, and compassion. We are looking for someone with strong decision-making skills, initiative, and a flexible, cooperative attitude. You demonstrate tact, empathy, and professionalism with patients and families, and work effectively both independently and within a team.
