The Cardiac Diagnostics department within SHC is currently recruiting for a Regular Full Time Diagnostic Sonographer I. Reporting to the Unit Manager of Cardiac Diagnostics and Clinics, the Diagnostic Sonographer is responsible for the performance of various echocardiographic studies, understanding and recognizing the pathophysiology associated with these studies, and reporting the resulting data. Specifically, the Diagnostic Sonographer will: Demonstrate proficiency and prioritization in performing and assisting with Echocardiography studies including: Transthoracic Echocardiograms. Transesophageal Echocardiograms. Pericardiocentesis. Stress Testing. Contrast studies. Supporting learners including sonography student or physician learners. The Diagnostic Sonographer is an essential part of the healthcare team and the successful candidate must possess strong intrapersonal skills, demonstrate an ability to clearly communicate in stressful situations, and consistently execute attention to detail in work performance. Description:
As a Diagnostic Sonographer I, you will perform a variety of standardized and complex ultrasound services for the diagnosis and tracking of disease and pathology. Your responsibilities include preparing the patient for examination, reviewing patient history, explaining procedures, obtaining ultrasound images of diagnostic quality, and takes initial action to resolve abnormal findings. You will assist with diagnosis, clinical intervention and patient management all while ensuring a high level of patient care and safety. Your work may include assisting Radiologists and Cardiologists, Perinatologists and other medical staff with special procedures where required.
