JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a skilled Diagnostic Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining various types of vehicles. This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to interpret schematics to ensure efficient and reliable repairs. The Diagnostic Technician will also provide exceptional customer service, assisting customers with their needs and ensuring satisfaction.

SKILLS

  • Experience of German car brands.
  • MOT tester Licence or willingness to attain Licence.
  • High voltage vehicle certified.
  • Must be eligible to work in UK with full UK driving licence, certain licence endorsements are restricted.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to understand complex systems.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Experience in equipment repair, with a focus on diagnostic techniques.
  • Ability to maintain a clean and organised workspace while adhering to safety standards.
  • Capability to perform lifting when necessary.
  • Excellent customer service skills, with a focus on client satisfaction.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically under pressure.

    40 hrs per week up to £17 per hour / £35,359 per annum based on experience.
    08:30 – 17:00 Monday to Friday.
    1.5x overtime rate (up to £25.50) every other Saturday morning 09:00 – 13:00 / approx 26 Saturdays per year up to £2652.
    Monthly productivity bonus for hours sold over 85% attended.
    (Ie. 2184 hours per year with Saturdays, 85% target is 1856 hours sold, example hours sold 2075 or 95% = 219 hours over target, paid at £10 per hour = £2190 bonus per year.)
    Total OTE per annum up to £40,201 based on experience and qualifications.
    15 min paid morning break, 30 min unpaid lunch.
    Christmas eve and new year eve paid leave (or nearest day).
    Birthday off or day in lieu taken any time.
    Total leave 23 days leave plus 8 bank holidays.
    Sick pay after 2 years service 10 days per year a 50% pay.
    Minimum two staff nights out / events per year.
    £500 loyalty reward holiday voucher after 5 years service.
    £1000 loyalty reward holiday voucher after 10 years service.
    Company contribution pension.
    Heated workshop, air-conditioned offices and canteen.

Responsibilities

Your main role will be service, diagnostic and major vehicle repair work of all makes and models, key responsibilities include but not limited to;

  • Electrical diagnosis and fault finding to BMW standards across the model range including M Power and hybrid/electric.
  • Carrying out all aspects of vehicle repairs and servicing to manufacturer standards.
  • MOT testing and ensuring DVSA standards are adhered to.
  • Identifying upsale work.
  • Keeping up to date with the latest advances in technology and BMW / MINI product knowledge.
  • Ensuring safe working practices are adhered to.
  • Maintaining a clean work environment.
  • Advising customers over technical matters and road testing where appropriate.
  • Liaising with the service advisors to ensure customers are updated with progress reports.
  • It will be permanent employment subject to a satisfactory 6 month probationary period.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs and maintenance performed.
  • Provide excellent customer service by addressing client inquiries and concerns professionally.
  • Perform lifting as required when handling equipment and parts.
  • Collaborate with team members to improve processes and enhance service delivery.
