Description:

St. Lawrence Optometry is looking to fill a position in our growing company. We have been a part of the Kingston community for 50 years as of 2019 and have grown to 2 clinics. This is a fast-paced environment that will require a multi-tasking personality to be successful in the role. Candidates must be looking for a progressive and rewarding career. We pride ourselves on our family like atmosphere.
Your primary role would be as a diagnostic technician. This role involves taking instruction from our Optometrists and working directly with patients to conduct testing. The type of testing used helps determines the patient’s risk for certain eye conditions and involves peripheral vision testing, ocular scans, genetic testing and dry eye screening. Experience is preferred however we are looking for someone who could work well with our team; the right applicant would be trained on the job.
Your secondary role would be as an administrative assistant. Your roles would include handling patient inquiries in person, on the phone and online. Processing payments and insurance claims, invoicing and filing are also part of this role. Our administrative staff also assist in pre-testing patients before seeing the Optometrists for their appointments. We strive to cross train our staff in many aspects of the office so you may also have roles in contact lens training and ordering.
We require a minimum of 30 hrs per week, some early evening and Saturday hours would be involved. Travel between the 2 office locations likely (not usually within the same day) however you would primarily work at our Downtown location (3-4 days/week).

CANDIDATES WILL NEED TO MEET THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS:

Have a positive attitude
Have the ability to multitask
Be flexible
Have excellent customer service skills
Have ample computer skills
Medical technician or office administration experience is a plus but not necessary
