We're seeking an experienced Diagnostics Engineer to join the Electrical & Electronic Systems team on a 6-month fixed-term contract to provide cover and maintain project continuity. The Diagnostics Engineer will be responsible for the development, validation, and maintenance of diagnostic strategies across all electrical and electronic (E/E) systems. The role plays a critical part in ensuring robust fault detection, effective service diagnostics, and compliance with industry communication protocols. This position requires close collaboration with system engineers, ECU suppliers, service engineering teams, and dealer networks to deliver high-quality, production-ready diagnostic solutions. All applications will be treated in the strictest of confidence. The successful candidate will be required to undergo a basic DBS criminal record check. Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain diagnostic strategies, including Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) and associated service procedures for all E/E systems Create, manage, and validate diagnostic datasets to ensure accuracy and robustness Support system engineers in defining diagnostic requirements early in the design and development cycle. Analyse field issues, perform log analysis, and support root-cause investigations through structured fault replication Collaborate with ECU suppliers to ensure correct diagnostic implementation and compliance with specifications Provide technical support to service engineering teams and dealer networks on diagnostic-related queries Validate diagnostic functionality using industry-standard communication protocols including CAN, LIN, Ethernet, and UDS Contribute to continuous improvement of diagnostic processes, documentation and validation methodologies Skills & Experience Essential: Proven experience in automotive or motorcycle diagnostics engineering Strong understanding of E/E architectures and embedded systems Hands-on experience with diagnostic protocol validation (CAN, LIN, Ethernet, UDS) Experience developing and managing DTC strategies Ability to analyse CAN logs and perform structured fault-finding Experience working with ECU suppliers and external technical partners Strong problem-solving and analytical skills Excellent communication skills with the ability to support technical and non-technical stakeholders Desirable: Experience within motorcycle or low-volume automotive OEM environments Familiarity with ISO 14229 (UDS) and ISO 26262 functional safety considerations Knowledge of calibration and vehicle-level validation processes 🤝 Stay Connected: Follow us on LinkedIn to stay updated on the latest news and job openings at Autoscan UK Ltd.
