Description:

DIAMOND TURNING MACHINE TECHNICIAN

Reynard Corporation, a manufacturer of thin film coated optical products for a variety of markets including Aerospace, Medical, Defense, Imaging, Automotive, and general R&D, has an immediate opening for a Diamond Turning Technician.
The candidate should possess a good understanding of mechanics, mathematics as well as production and manufacturing fundamentals. Preferred background is in optical fabrication manufacturing utilizing CNC based machines, however candidates with strong electrical/mechanical backgrounds will be considered and receive needed training if hired.
1st shift position available (possible split shift/2nd shift in future)

1.0 **Basic Function

  • The basic function of the Diamond Turning Technician is to set up, program and operate Diamond Turning machines to produce spherical and aspheric optical components.

2.0 **Requirements:

  • US Person as defined by 22 CFR 120.15 (Citizen, Permanent Resident)
  • High school diploma, or equivalent
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment (preferred)
  • Good communication skills with fluency in compositional and conversational English
  • One or more years of experience with CNC programming and operation preferred
  • Exposure to chemicals, solvents and oils
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift/carry at least 20lbs
  • Use of safety glasses and gloves/PPE
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

3.0 **Preferred Experience:

  • Knowledge of operation of diamond point turning machines and/or CNC Machines and metrology equipment (microscope, interferometer, contact and non-contact profilometer)
  • Knowledge of programming, operating and troubleshooting diamond point turning machines and/or CNC Machines
  • Knowledge of working in a cleanroom environment
  • Read and interpret drawings and requirements from custom specifications
  • Perform mathematical functions for corrections in 3-dimentional space using formulas, conversions, and ratios
  • Critical thinking and resolves issues
  • Knowledge of conventional optical fabrication manufacturing
  • Ability to use hand tools and power tools
  • Ability to work under timelines and pressure
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to read schematics/drawings and follow procedures
  • Ability to multitask
  • Works effectively without direct supervision

4.0 **Reporting Relationships:

  • The D.T. Technician reports directly to the department Manager.
  • The D.T. Technician has no direct reports.

5.0 **Authority:

  • Make decisions that are in agreement to, and in support of, the Reynard Corporation Quality Management System.
  • Suggest and recommend new and/or improved department operating policies and procedures

6.0 **Responsibilities:

  • Set up, programming, and operation of Diamond Turning machines to produce spherical and aspheric optical components
  • Preparing and cleaning of optical components
  • Use DIFFSYS software, or equivalent tool-path software
  • Adjust machine performance to achieve optimal functionality and processing
  • Measure complex parts using optical metrology equipment to determine compliance, including profilometers and interferometers with the use of CGH’s
  • Maintain functionality of Diamond Turning machines, keeping a well-organized and clean work center
  • Works within an ISO9001 Quality Management System
  • Performs other duties as assigned

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

· Willing to work weekends as necessary
· Willing to work extended hours occasionally
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
