Description Set up and operate MIG, sub-arc and stick arc welding equipment to manufacture and repair mild steel dies used in the production of metal castings. Perform flame cutting, grinding and shot blasting required for the manufacture and repair of dies. Set up and perform repairs remotely in Foundry facilities to support in-process casting campaigns. Work from drawings, sketches and specifications to set up and weld assemblies. Perform basic preventive maintenance and repairs on equipment used. Perform other miscellaneous welding as needed. Complete and maintain appropriate welding certifications, as needed. Prepare die “kits” consisting of dies, covers, bolts, etc. in accordance with job routing and die safety standards, based on scheduled foundry production needs. Inspect dies and related equipment for dimensional and general condition. Record findings and recommend repairs. Assist in shot blasting and die repair duties. Transport and position dies using various types of cranes, forklift trucks and lifting/positioning equipment. Requirements Experience with stick and MIG welding preferred. TIG and submerged arc helpful. Must be able to pass and maintain certifications. Forklift experience required; current certification preferred. Must be able to obtain and maintain forklift certification. Experience with cranes/hoist required. Ability to learn to read blueprints and work from sketches and specifications.
