Description
The Diesel Mechanic (1st Shift - 8:30am-5:30pm, M-F, 40-45 per week) is responsible of performing diagnosis and preventive maintenance services as well as inspect, diagnose, and repair on a variety of heavy-duty diesel vehicles and equipment. This role supports all aspects of the mechanical repair and maintenance of vehicles, machines, equipment, and facilities.   Reports To Shop Manager   * Perform repairs and assigned preventive maintenance services * Perform inspection, diagnosis, and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on vehicles and equipment * Work under limited supervision and select from written instructions and established procedures to accomplish assigned tasks * Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with Company / OSHA Standards and perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures * Utilize vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign repairs * Perform service calls for emergency breakdowns * Conduct annual safety checks on vehicles * Complete required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times * Assist other mechanics in the completion of project work * Review, complete, or assign repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports Qualifications * Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience * Must have own tools * Active applicable certificates, licenses, or registrations are a plus * Must have a valid driver’s license * Must be at least 18 years of age * Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations * Able to pass pre-employment drug screen, physical, and background check * Required to use motor coordination with finger dexterity (such as keyboarding, machine operation, etc.) most of the workday * Required to exert physical effort in handling heavy objects throughout the workday * Required to be exposed to physical occupational risks (such as cuts, burns, exposure to toxic chemicals, etc.) * Required to be exposed to physical environment which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements often * Must be eligible to work in the US without requiring sponsorship now or in the future
