Description Job Overview: The Diesel Mechanic is a vital member of the Fremont Reefer Operations team within RMG. The Diesel Mechanic’s primary responsibility is the maintenance and repair of reefer containers and gensets in order to keep reefer containers in working order. The Reefer operations are fast paced and require individuals to effectively communicate when working alongside heavy equipment. The Diesel Mechanic must maintain a safe yet efficient mindset when maintaining reefer containers and gensets to best assist and support with the successful onward movement of customer cargoes. Key Job Duties: Mount and dismount gensets using a forklift Conduct pre-trip processes including Mount and dismount gensets using a forklift Inspect the reefer and genset for damage, document findings Repair reefers and gensets Washout reefers Routinely document and communicate progress Asses reefer and genset damage and fix the identified problems when possible Assist drivers with genset fueling using FluidSecure Operate a manlift to plug in/out decked reefers tier 2 or higher Run temperature reports in Octopi Assist with Maintenance Department as needed Requirements Highschool diploma, AA/secondary education preferred Minimum 2 years experience in heavy equipment repairs, diesel engines, electrical motors, parts inventory, work orders. Organizational skills Time Management Effective communication Experience operating CMMS, microsoft office Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs Ability to work in all weather conditions Ability to push and pull up to 80 pounds occasionally Ability to ascend and descend a ladder
