Diesel Mechanic - Ponca City, OK   Full-Time   An employee of Shepherd Oil Company exemplifies our belief of "Where Service Matters:   The Diesel Mechanic will play a key role in the safety and efficient operations of our transportation department.  This person will maintain equipment operation by completing inspections and preventive maintenance requirements; correcting vehicle deficiencies, making adjustments and alignments; and keeping records of all actions performed.  The ability to diagnose problems will be paramount to this person’s success.  Also expected will be an organized system and documentation of ordering parts, storing common parts and supplies, and the ability to clearly communicate with others regarding vehicle needs and issues.    Responsibilities: * Perform minor and major repairs on trucks and trailers (Peterbilt and Kenworth) and other company vehicles * Maintain accurate records of each repair and service performed on vehicles * Complies with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards * Ensures services provided are in compliance with safety procedures, always making safety the top priority * Expected work week of approximately 50 hours.  Base schedule of M-F 8a-5p with some hours outside of that range (evenings and/or weekends will be required) * Position will be based in Ponca City but will be a mobile position with regular travel within the region   Qualifications: * High school diploma or equivalent * ASE diesel certification preferred * Proven work history as a diesel mechanic * Class A CDL with hazmat and tanker endorsements preferred * Experience working on Peterbilt and Kenworth trucks preferred * Experience working with all parts of vehicles, beyond just the engine * Pass a background check and drug test * Ability to travel, primarily regional (OK, TX, KS, MO, AR), with some overnight travel included   Benefits: * A growing and expanding family-owned company that values every person * Paid Time Off (PTO) and paid holidays (6 per year) * Access to quality and affordable health, dental, vision, life and Aflac insurance * Retirement plan with company match
