Job Summary: Diagnose, maintenance, and repair problems on the major components and systems such as: Diesel Engine Brake System Transmission Air System Differential Electrical System Perform, repair, and preventative maintenance work on the following items, both tractor and trailer: Brakes Cab Engine Fifth Wheel Transmission Delivery Equipment Suspensions AC and Air Systems Clutch Tires/Axles/Wheels Other Responsibilities: Diagnose and troubleshoot problems with major components Maintain accurate records of P.M. services and repair work Perform occasional road service Schedule work through the shop to maintain P.M. schedule, scheduled repair work, and State and Federal vehicle inspections Oversee repair work done by outside vendors Perform running repairs, P.M. services, State and Federal Inspections Tractors, Trailers, and Straight Trucks Requirements: Working knowledge of the systems and components listed above Experience dealing with parts and service vendors Maintaining vehicle maintenance records, state inspections and P.M. scheduling Must have a HS diploma or GED Class A CDL with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements (Must agree to obtain within one year of hire date) Minimum of three years of experience in heavy truck and trailer maintenance and repair

The mechanic will diagnose, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on major components and systems of tractors and trailers, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems. Responsibilities also involve maintaining accurate repair records, performing occasional road service, and scheduling work to meet inspection deadlines.
