The Diesel Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel-powered vehicles and equipment in accordance with manufacturer standards, dealership policies, and industry best practices. This role requires strong technical proficiency in Ford diesel systems (including Power Stroke platforms), a disciplined diagnostic approach, and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship and customer satisfaction. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES DIAGNOSTICS & REPAIR * Perform advanced diagnostics on diesel engines, driveline components, fuel systems, electrical systems, and emissions systems. * Accurately identify root causes using Ford IDS/FDRS diagnostic tools and manufacturer service information. * Complete repairs in accordance with Ford Motor Company procedures and warranty guidelines. * Conduct engine overhauls, turbocharger replacements, fuel injection repairs, and aftertreatment system service (DPF, DEF, SCR systems). * Perform transmission, suspension, brake, steering, and HVAC repairs as required. PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE * Conduct scheduled maintenance services on diesel trucks and commercial vehicles. * Inspect vehicles and document recommendations for additional repairs. * Ensure all safety inspections meet provincial regulatory standards. WARRANTY & DOCUMENTATION * Complete detailed repair orders with accurate time entries and diagnostic steps. * Comply with Ford warranty policies and documentation requirements. * Participate in quality control checks to reduce comebacks and rework. SAFETY & COMPLIANCE * Maintain a safe and organized work area in accordance with WorkSafeBC regulations. * Follow all dealership health and safety policies. * Properly handle hazardous materials and dispose of waste in compliance with environmental standards. TEAM & CUSTOMER SUPPORT * Collaborate with Service Advisors to clearly communicate technical findings. * Support apprentices and junior technicians through mentorship and guidance. * Participate in ongoing Ford technical training and certification programs. QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS * Red Seal Automotive Service Technician Certification (or equivalent interprovincial certification). * Diesel specialization experience strongly preferred. * Experience with Ford diesel platforms (6.7L Power Stroke preferred). * Strong understanding of diesel emissions systems and electronic diagnostics. * Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with clean abstract. * Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a physically demanding environment. * Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. * Commitment to workmanship quality and efficiency targets. PREFERRED ASSETS * Ford Master Technician or Senior Master Certification. * Experience working in a dealership environment. * Commercial vehicle repair experience. * Air brake certification (if applicable).
