Description
Description We are seeking a skilled Diesel Technician to join our maintenance team in a fast-paced environment. You will work closely with other technicians to perform preventive maintenance and repair on our fleet, machinery supporting our post-collection facility, and equipment servicing the container shop. This role requires strong technical abilities and attention to safety and regulatory standards. The Technician will be responsible for completing maintenance tasks efficiently and effectively to help reduce downtime, ensure equipment reliability, and contribute to the overall success of the team. Principal Responsibilities: Maintenance & Repairs: Perform preventive maintenance and repair work on fleet vehicles, heavy equipment, and machinery supporting the post-collection facility and container shop. Utilize advanced knowledge of engine, emission systems, transmission, brakes, hydraulics, electrical systems, vehicle body control systems, heating/cooling systems, and welding techniques to complete repairs safely and efficiently. Diagnostics & Troubleshooting: Conduct diagnostics and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues to identify necessary repairs. Participate in road testing vehicles when required to verify repair effectiveness. Quality & Compliance: Ensure all repairs and maintenance work meet the Company’s safety standards as well as applicable federal and state regulations. Assist with inspections and report any quality or safety concerns. Inventory Management: Maintain proper control of parts and equipment inventory. Communicate with supervisors regarding parts needs and assist in maintaining budget-conscious purchasing. Documentation: Accurately document all preventive and corrective maintenance work performed, maintaining records and logs as required by the company. Safety: Follow all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment and comply with regulatory requirements. Requirements 5 years of Diesel Mechanic work Knowledge of hydraulic system Proficient in diagnosing and repairing engines, transmissions, electrical systems, and ABS systems Must have own set of tools CDL Class B license is a plus High school diploma or equivalent preferred Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions Availability to work afternoon shifts Welding experience is a plus but not required Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to analyze component parts and systems on trucks and tractor-trailers Ability to work with moderate supervision and follow established procedures Physically capable of standing for long periods and working in a fast-paced environment Must be able to lift 50 lbs or more Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
