Description Overview: Responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines and vehicles. They work with various types of diesel-powered equipment, including trucks, buses, construction machinery, and generators. Responsibilities: Diagnostic Testing: Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to identify mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in diesel engines and related systems. Repair and Maintenance: Perform repairs and maintenance tasks on diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, and other components according to manufacturer specifications and industry standards. Routine Service: Conduct routine maintenance procedures, such as oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid checks, to prevent breakdowns and prolong engine life. Troubleshooting: Investigate and troubleshoot engine malfunctions, electrical problems, and performance issues to determine the root cause and implement effective solutions. Parts Replacement: Replace worn or damaged parts, such as injectors, fuel pumps, turbochargers, and gaskets, with new or refurbished components to restore optimal performance. Welding and Fabrication: Perform welding and fabrication tasks to repair or modify vehicle chassis, frames, and structural components as needed. Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with safety regulations and guidelines while working on diesel-powered equipment to prevent accidents and injuries. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, and service procedures performed on diesel engines and vehicles for documentation and reporting purposes. Customer Service: Interact with customers to understand their concerns, explain repair options, and provide excellent service to enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of a diesel mechanic training program or apprenticeship preferred. ASE certification in diesel engine repair (e.g., Medium-Heavy Truck Certification - T-Series) is desirable. Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, computerized systems, and technical manuals. Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow safety protocols. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Physical stamina and dexterity to perform manual tasks in various weather conditions. Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime as needed.
