Description This position is ideal for a well-rounded technician—or someone eager to cross-train—who wants to grow with a professional transportation fleet. You will be responsible for truck diagnostics, trailer repairs, and assisting with or learning reefer unit maintenance (Carrier / Thermo King). Full training will be provided for candidates who have a strong mechanical foundation. Key Responsibilities: Truck Responsibilities (Semi Diesel) · Diagnose and repair heavy-duty diesel engines, electrical systems, emissions systems (DPF/DEF/SCR), and driveline components. · Perform preventive maintenance (PM A/B/C) according to company schedules. · Troubleshoot electrical and multiplex wiring issues. · Repair brakes, suspension, wheel ends, steering components, and HVAC systems. · Use OEM diagnostic software or shop scan tools. · Maintain complete and accurate work orders. Trailer Responsibilities · Perform full inspections and FHWA annual DOT inspections. · Repair brake systems, wheel ends, air lines, valves, lighting, wiring, and ABS components. · Repair structural and body components (doors, flooring, rails). · Perform minor welding or fabrication (preferred, not required). Reefer Unit Cross-Training and Responsibilities · Assist with or learn maintenance and repair of Thermo King / Carrier reefer units. · Perform basic diagnostics on engine performance, cooling performance, electrical systems, and alarms. · Conduct reefer PMs (filters, belts, sensors, calibration checks). · Troubleshoot temp-control issues, refrigerant leaks, and electrical faults (with support as needed). · Complete pre-trip inspections for reefer units to ensure cargo protection and proper performance. Qualifications · 2–5+ years' experience as a diesel mechanic (truck, trailer, heavy equipment, or automotive techs encouraged to apply). · Trailer repair experience or willingness to cross-train. · Reefer experience is a plus; reefer cross-training will be provided. · Strong mechanical, electrical, and diagnostic skills. · Ability to read schematics, technical manuals, and wiring diagrams. · Must have own basic and intermediate tools (specialty tools provided). · Valid driver’s license; CDL is a plus but not required. · Ability to lift 75 lbs, climb, kneel, crawl, and work in all shop environments. Soft Skills · Strong communication skills (drivers + dispatch + management). · Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. · Safety-focused and attention to detail. · Team-oriented and willing to cross-train and learn new systems.
