Schedule: Full-Time Shift: Days Location: 601 EAST ROLLINS STREET, Orlando, 32803 The community you’ll be caring for: Located on a lush tropical campus, our flagship hospital, 1,368-bed AdventHealth Orlando Serves as the major tertiary facility for much of the Southeast, the Caribbean and South America AdventHealth Orlando houses one of the largest Emergency Departments and largest cardiac catheterization labs in the country We are already one of the busiest hospitals in the nation, providing service excellence to more than 32,000 inpatients and 125,000 outpatients each year Your role Assists Dietitian in collecting nutritionally relevant patient data to perform nutritional screening and preliminary nutritional risk evaluation • Screens for urgency of a nutritional assessment, care plan, and intervention that is performed by a Registered Dietitian. Interviews patients to obtain food preferences and diet or weight history. Determines whether the patient/resident may require a nutritional assessment which is performed by a Registered Dietitian. • Provides nutritional education for patient and their families involving principles of special therapeutic diets; reviews current dietary practices of patient and their families; evaluates patient understanding and expected level of compliance; makes recommendations for follow up education. • Assists Dietitian in implementing patient nutritional preferences and monitor care plans; retrieves clinical information; generates reports and performs other duties utilizing computerized systems. • Assists Dietitian in performing nutritional analysis; calculates and analyzes patient food and fluid intake (Calorie Counts) • Collects pertinent clinical data from patient medical records in order to accurately identify current nutrition problems; utilizes approved, institution specific documentation standards to chart pertinent nutritional information into patient medical record. • Performs other related duties as assigned-Meal Rounds. Demonstrates dependability, to include attendance and punctuality. • Attends all mandatory in-services and staff meetings. Meets and maintains current all certifications/licensures, as required. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Associate's degree required • A Dietetic Technician, Registered (DTR) must complete associate’s degree in Nutrition/Dietetics. Approved internship. • Experience applying customer service behaviors and communication skills required. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED: • Minimum of one (1) year hospital experience preferred, registration-eligible acceptable for generalist position. Job summary: The Dietetic Technician provides clinical assistance to the Registered Dietitian. Under the supervision of an RD, the DTR responsibilities include: assisting the Dietitian with clinical nutrition care for patients; collecting basic nutritionally relevant data to identify patients nutritional risk level. Providing nutrition education and counseling for patients and their families; collecting clinical data from patient medical records; collecting and implementing food and nutrition preferences; retrieving and assessing patient nutritional information from computerized medical records.
