Horizon Health is a Critical Access, Rural Health Facility comprised of 25-inpatient beds located in Paris, IL & a multitude of outpatient clinic settings including Family Practice and Specialty Clinics in Paris and surrounding cities. Our rich history and strong community support pave the way for the future of healthcare as we serve you—our family, friends, and neighbors.   Position Summary: Cooks prepares meats, vegetables, soups, etc. for the patients and patrons of Hospital & Medical Foundation of Paris, Inc. This individual is also responsible for reviewing menus to determine types and quantities of food preparation and planning the cooking schedule.   Essential Functions (Responsibilities/Accountabilities): * Maintains hot and cold food temperatures according to established guidelines.  * Prepares, washing, trimming, cooking, and seasoning of food items for each meal.  * Reviews menus to determine type and quantities of various foods.  * Plans cooking schedule in conjunction with Dietary Aides to ensure that food is ready at specified times.  * Confers with Manager regarding modified diet preparation and use of leftovers.  * Carves portions of food for individual servings and prepares or directs distribution of food to serving units.  * Performs those duties necessary for production of Meals-on-Wheels.  * Able to make modifications on menus to meet nutritional needs and food preferences for varying age groups and the physically and mentally challenged patients by having good knowledge of the basic modified diets.  * Takes initiative to talk with team members about problems that need to be addressed or corrected.  * Serves employees and guests in the cafeteria line –greeting patrons cheerfully. Treats customer with respect, courtesy, and patience. (Consider complaints received).    The responsibilities listed above are not all-inclusive; other activities may be required ln support of the hospital's goals and objectives.     Position Requirements:   * High school education or equivalent preferred.  * Food service sanitation certification by Illinois Department of Public Health required.  * 3-5 years experience in food service environment required.  * Knowledge of modified diets preferred.  * Knowledgeable on universal precautions.  * Knowledgeable of age-specific requirements for patient populations.   Location:  721 E Court St., Paris IL  61944 Hours of work:  Monday through Friday with rotating weekends, 8 hours per day or evening Pay Rate: Pay ranges from $15.250/hour to $20.979/hour (rate of pay is based on applicable years of experience) Horizon Health is committed to caring not only for our patients, but for our staff as well.
