POSITION OVERVIEW

We are currently hiring a Dietary Aide (DA) for a leading healthcare facility in Red Deer, AB. As a Dietary Aide with GHHS, you will be an integral part of the nutrition services team, contributing to resident and patient well-being through safe food handling, meal preparation, and supportive service delivery.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Food Handler Certification (Safe Food Handling Certificate) would be required
  • Minimum 6-9 months of recent experience working in a similar role for a long-term care, retirement homes, or hospital setting
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs, stand for long periods, and perform repetitive tasks
  • Current Vulnerable Sector Check (within the past 6 months)
  • Completed 2-Step TB Test (within the past 6 months) and/or Chest X-ray (within the past year)
  • Proof of 2 or 3 doses of COVID-19 vaccination
Responsibilities
  • Prepare and portion meals and snacks based on individual dietary requirements (e.g., diabetic, low-sodium, texture-modified diets)
  • Set up tray lines, buffet stations, or dining areas in accordance with facility protocols
  • Assemble meal trays accurately and deliver them to residents or patients
  • Sanitize work surfaces and dining areas following HACCP and WHMIS standards
  • Receive, label, and store food supplies properly; rotate stock to ensure freshness
  • Monitor inventory levels and notify supervisors of supply needs
  • Follow food safety, infection control, fire safety, and workplace health & safety guidelines
  • Collaborate with team members to maintain a safe, clean, and efficient kitchen environment
